Jamie Nolan combines her passion for clean energy, climate change action, environmental protection and transportation with her keen skills as a strategic counselor.
She launched Nolan Strategic Communications after working as a director for The Hannon Group, where she served as communications director for the U.S. Department of Energy’s SunShot Initiative for over half of the program's existence. For her client SunShot, Jamie acted as a Jill-of-all-trades, managing an award-winning communications team and a portfolio that included strategic message development, media relations, social media, online strategy, stakeholder engagement, content marketing, and graphic design for a high-profile government R&D program with a $230 million annual budget. The SunShot team won the National Association of Government Communicators’ award for the 2017 best integrated communications campaign on a shoestring budget, among half a dozen other awards during Jamie’s time as team lead.
At The Hannon Group, she hired and managed a team of eight communications professionals supporting DOE's Advanced Manufacturing and Technology-to-Market offices as well as SunShot. Her duties included hiring, budgeting, reporting, and financial management for multimillion-dollar federal task orders.
Jamie previously worked at the Solar Energy Industries Association, where she was responsible for domestic and international media relations, placing stories in top national media outlets including The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Fox News, Forbes, TIME, and Business Week to raise the profile of the U.S. solar energy industry. Before that she was communications director for a clean-energy advocacy organization, and worked in various public relations agencies on accounts including food service, real estate, hospitality, and consumer technology.
Jamie graduated summa cum laude from Radford University with a B.S. in communication and marketing. She holds an M.A. in public relations from the University of Miami.
